Hexagram Thirty-Six
明夷
Darkening of the Light
Light descended into the earth: brilliance kept veiled through an unreceptive season.
The sun has gone beneath the ground — light persisting, unseen. Darkening of the Light concerns seasons when openness is not rewarded: the environment misreads, undervalues or resists what you carry. The counsel is veiled perseverance — keep the inner light fully lit while dimming its outer display, work on, and decline the argument you cannot currently win. This is not defeat; it is light travelling underground to where it can rise.
On wealth
Undervalued work and assets should be held, not argued for; keep quality high and visibility deliberately low for now.
