The objects.

This section is about the things themselves: what they are made of, how they are made, and what they have meant in Chinese tradition. The reasoning about your own chart lives in the free reading, and the metaphysics lives in the library. Here we describe jewelry.

The first run

The Pixiu Bracelet

Black obsidian, solid brass pixiu

Volcanic glass and a small brass beast that, in the folklore, takes things in and does not hand them back.

  • 8 mm black obsidian, cut and polished rather than dyed. Obsidian is glass, so it holds light differently from the opaque stones it usually sits beside.
  • A solid brass pixiu finished by PVD vacuum plating — a thinner, harder coat than the dipped plating that goes patchy in a season.
  • Doubled elastic cord, knotted by hand with the knot tucked inside a bead.
  • Arrives with a card explaining what the pixiu is in Chinese tradition, and what it is not.

Three ways in

By zodiac sign

Each of the twelve animals is fixed to one of the five elements. Yours points at a colour family, which is as far as a sign on its own can honestly take you.

Horse · 2026

The Year of the Horse opens on 17 February 2026, which makes it Ben Ming Nian — one's own zodiac year — for anyone born in a Horse year. The custom for that year is red worn close.

Not sure which one

Start with your five elements, not with a product grid.

The free reading calculates your birth chart the traditional way and reports which of the five elements your chart is built around. That answer maps to a colour family here. It takes about a minute, there is no account, and nothing on this site can be paid for today.
