Gathering Together
The lake collected on the earth: the assembly that forms around a worthy centre.
Waters gather into a lake upon the field — the hexagram of assembly. Gathering Together concerns the moments when people, resources and purpose converge: the founding, the reunion, the campaign. Its counsel is to give the gathering a worthy centre and proper form — clear leadership, real ceremony, provisions laid in — because where much collects, much can jostle. A well-ordered gathering multiplies its members; a formless one merely crowds them.
