The Joyous
Lake answering lake: joy that strengthens by being shared and grounded.
Two lakes joined replenish one another — the hexagram of grounded joy. The Joyous treats gladness as a strength with structure: pleasure resting on inner firmness, friends deepening one another through shared practice. Its counsel is discriminating cheer — cultivate the joy that comes from discussing, learning and making with others, and be wary of the entertaining drift that dissolves rather than replenishes. True joy, the text insists, is so steady it can face difficulty smiling.
