Attachment Style Test

How you hold on, how you pull away — two currents, four shorelines.

☯ East × WestResearch-rooted

Two lenses, one you. Attachment research maps the bond along two currents — how loudly closeness worries you, and how firmly you keep distance — and this page reads the same two currents through the five elements and the I Ching. The pairings here (earth and Peace for the secure shoreline, fire and Waiting for the anxious one, metal and Retreat for the avoidant, water and the Deep for the fearful) are this site’s own interpretive layer: a conversation between traditions, not a claim either tradition makes about the other. In both readings, the direction of growth is the same — wood: the style you have is a strategy you learned, and strategies can keep growing.

This site is offered for entertainment and self-reflection purposes only.

The two-dimension (closeness worry × distance keeping) and four-style framework follows the adult attachment research tradition (Bowlby; Ainsworth; Bartholomew & Horowitz, 1991). All twelve statements on this test were written originally for this site and are not drawn from any published inventory. The five-element and hexagram readings are this site’s own interpretive framework. This test is for self-discovery and entertainment; it is not a clinical assessment, and it does not diagnose any condition or predict any relationship.
